What is ABA?

“Applied Behavior Analysis” is a very long name for a very effective therapy.

ABA immerses your child in a caring, positive environment, where they work one-on-one with a therapist on a treatment schedule specially tailored for them.

What is ABA?

“Applied Behavior Analysis” is a very long name for a very effective therapy.

ABA immerses your child in a caring, positive environment for 15 hours a week, where they work one-on-one with a therapist on a treatment schedule specially tailored for them.

ABA can help your child achieve
many milestones.

Reduce aggression and cope with outbursts

Improve communication
and language skills

Play with kids their
own age

Focus on schoolwork

Get dressed, bathe and
brush their teeth

Applied Behavior
Analysis means results.

Behavioral therapy works by reinforcing and rewarding helpful
behaviors that improve learning and communication skills.

Each session is guided by two principles.

Antecedent → response → consequence

ABA is based in cause and effect. Children respond to a therapist’s request, and the therapist guides them toward positive, long-lasting behavioral change.

Positive reinforcement

We can all agree that people like rewards—and children aren’t any different. Over time, the positive encouragement your child experiences reinforces meaningful progress.

ABA in action

The goal is always happier, healthier kids.

With intensive therapy, ABA gives your children the keys to control their reactions and their experience of the world. The many small steps they take at AIM will add up to a whole new outlook.

How has ABA helped other children?

Applied Behavior Analysis is a big time commitment, but more
than 20 scientific studies have demonstrated its results.

Both the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Psychological
Association consider ABA an “evidence-based best-practice
treatment”—meaning the evidence is in: ABA works hard for
your child.

Here’s an example.

In a 2006 study, 21 children with autism spectrum disorder
received 35–40 hours a week of ABA treatment for three years,
and 21 children with ASD received only public school and
special education classes.

Group receiving ABA therapy

Significantly higher IQ/adaptive behavior scores

17/21 children included in regular education after 3 years

Group not receiving ABA therapy

Stagnant IQ/adaptive behavior scores

1/21 children included in regular education after 3 years
